The title for my presentation might be called "How Many Collage Graduates Actually Work In Their Career Field". In my last paper I wrote about how hard it is for college graduates to get a job (even with training/placement services at colleges) without some sort of work experience, such as clinical or internship programs. In this assignment I will be doing a short video, interviewing college grads, to see what they went through looking for employment and where their at in life now. I plan on asking them a variety of questions such as: What is your degree? When did you graduate? Do you work in your degree field? Have you ever? Did you use the training/placement services at your college while in school? Did you have any work experience in this field prior to graduation? Did you do any kind of training or internship programs? Did you have any experience on your resume? Why are you not working in your career field now? Why do you think you were not hired when interviewed? Do you think if you had experience you would have been more likely to get the job? Do you think you are better off at your current place of employment? Do you think college was worth it? If you had any advise for current college students about college what would it be? My audience is going to be directed to students in college now because some of them do not know what they will go through when looking for their first career job.
I think that is very interesting and will definitely be very beneficial for us students to see how the whole college process possibly lead us to a better career than if we weren't going to college. I think those are all great questions for your video. Not much advice to give because it already sounds like a good idea.

ReplyDeleteI think this is a great idea! I think it will be interesting to see how many college students actually work in the field they are trained in. It will also be kind of like a reality check saying that event hough you are going to college to get a certain degree you might not even end up using that degree. Sounds like a great idea and I can't wait to see the finished product.
ReplyDeleteDebbie, This will be very interesting, I'm curious to see what your outcome will be, I worked in a factory where there were several people that where college grafuates, still doing manual labor, and not using their college degrees.
